First day first tour of the city: War Museum seems to be a must.
Amazing in its horror!
My idea of such museum was a bunch of military uniforms and tanks and planes... There are, outside. But what I saw was an exhibition of quiet pride, inner force and dignity.

Outside the museum
"It displays exhibits on war crimes and consequences inflicted on the Vietnamese people by foreigner aggressive forces.
Simultaneusly, the museum appeals to everybody to oppose was, preserve global peace, promote friendship and solidarity among Nations". It is written on the leaflet and it is true!

Propaganda and peace messages
There are all the famous pictures taken by American journalists, black and white portraits of the human stupidity. The famous nacked girl running away from the burning forest, and next to the pictures there's the nice end of the story: she's alive, safe in Canada. There is an ungodly pictures of an American soldier holding a bunch of dirty clothes with a helmet: its the rest of an other soldier.
Really, the images are too cruel, even to be descripted no mention to publish.

Inside the museum
Outside the museum, on the side, they rebuilt a sort of prison where Vietnamese people were tortured and kept utill they died, in cages small even for a dog.
The inquisition torture system was nothing compare to those systems.
The most shocking part: agent orange effect on people and enviroment. There are shelves full of vases in wich deformed fetuses are preserved, photos of live siamese twins that look like strange creature of fantasy... truly terrible, touching and intolerable in its cruelty.

The other touching part is by the exit, where, after you have seen all the atrocities that have happened and the devastating effects of chemical weapons, you can meet some disabled people, young and old, fisically et mentally devastated by the agent orange. They are selling their handcraft products, but mostly they are showing themselves as to tell to the visitors that what they have watched was not the trial of a horror movie.

Lady cycling her way out.
I am happy to have had the promptness to take the picture of a lady in typical dress and hat, who took her bike and calmly started to cycle away in the park.
That is the tipycal image of the city.
I'd like to close this description with a message that was inside the museum, symbol of pride and inner strenght of Vietnamese people.
